Mold problem refuses to clear up
As much as we shake our heads, as much as we snicker, as much as we wag our
cynical tongues, this mold stuff is for real. The local anecdotes are piling up
too high to be ignored. The owner of a local home calls after reading a
story about the mold exclusion in homeowner insurance policies written in
Louisiana.

Mold a growing problem in schools
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 25 — Nationwide, school districts are finding
allergy-inducing mold in walls, on carpets and near ventilation systems. While
one study blames aging buildings and mold-promoting construction techniques,
other findings suggest the problem is due to a lack of proper ventilation in
newer schools.

Mold plagues state buildings
State health officials have discovered 14 patches of potentially toxic mold in
state buildings since April, including in the dome of the Legislature Building
and the basement of the State Capitol in Carson City, according to state
documents.

A Losing Battle?
The Mold War is still raging as more Floridians turn to
builders and contractors to fix buildings and insurance companies look for
protection from the rapidly growing problem. Berean Baptist Church is in
the thick of it. The church south of Orange Park opened a new $1.3-million
dormitory in December and moved in 86 of the students attending its
5-year-old Bible college.
